Well, here we go… welcome to my blog!
I am a first-year Event Management student from Aberdeen, currently studying a Digital Media module in which I am required to conduct my own research on a related topic that is of particular interest to me, and this is where it all begins..!
Over the coming weeks and months I am going to be blogging about my experiences, research developments and new-found knowledge on the topic of social media and the effects it has on today’s adolescent in 2014. We have come a long way in terms of technological advances – in particular in the world of the internet and even more specifically with regards to digital and social media. In many cases it has become extremely advantageous to our daily lives but equally it brings with it, countless risks and dangers which are of huge concern to today’s society. So why exactly do so many of us have an online social existance? What impact is this having on our day-to-day life in the ‘real’ world? and do we really know what the youth of today are getting up to online and who they’re speaking to? I hope, just like me, you’re keen to find out the answer to these questions and many more, and will stay tuned to my blog to further your knowledge into this relatively new ‘cyber-world’. Happy reading!
